Race Track: Time Trial

Engine: Unreal 5 (5.2)

 

Genre: Racing, Simulation

Level description:

I was tasked to create a 1km race track in UE5, with free rein on any type of race and scenery I desired. I took inspiration from European country roads around mountain terrains, and based it loosly on different areas around Holland, Sweeden and other beautiful countries. The track was 1km, with a start at one hill top hotel, where the player navigates down to the lower town, back up the hill and finish at the another hotel. 
 

Level Design:
 

  • Used Advanced Car UE5 Blueprint setup.

  • Creating modular actors to build the whiteboxes in landscape.

  • Blocking out the level using Unreal 5's Modeling Mode - Polymodel tools and other resources.

  • Used spline tool to create the road and side barriers.

  • Created animated objects, such as rotating lights, moving train which is activated through triggerbox for timing, and rotating windmills.

  • Creating mood board with images from the movies and games to help give ideas and direction.

  • Used widget tool to create UI/UX for menu, racing lines and speed information using blueprints.
