AREAS OF PRODUCTION

During my time at College and University, I have studied film through history, created screenplays, and acted as a Producer, Editor, and Director on small course projects which helped build my knowledge of film and television production. Even though I moved to game development during my time at University, the pre-production and producing tasks had stayed the same, and I now have experience and skills in both film and game, working to deadlines and producing a product.

The skills I have built on from my time during and after College and University include:

Writing for the screen (both film and game). I have recently written my first feature-length screenplay called 'Skystar' which can be found here.
Pre-production - scheduling, storyboarding, equipment requisitions, budgeting, casting, and location scouting.
Production - I have worked as Director, Producer, Camera Operator, and sound engineer.
Post-production - some editing (offline editor), some basic visual effects in After Effects, Marketing (advertise on social media for showings) and DVD creation.

Below are two examples of student work I helped with whilst studying for my Masters in Game Enterprise, Ouija Soup by George Turrell and A Tender Observation by Billy-Joe Steeples.

Ouija Soup

Ouija Soup is a student-made final major project, a supernatural comedy about British culture, where the protagonist attempts to convince his friends that he can see ghosts, after he uses alphabet soup as an Ouija board, resulting in his Grandfather's past coming back to haunt him.
The film was written, produced, directed, edited, and acted out by George Turrell. At the time I was living with George in halls and having experience in film development before studying game design, I stepped in to help as an extra on set and assist in the final editing process and another graphic design process.
You can check out George Turrell's showreel here.

A Tender Observation

During my time at University studying for my Master's, I was living in halls with another third-year student studying film, Billy Joe Steeples. Working on his final major project, he approached me asking for help with editing as this wasn't his strongest area, twenty-four hours before the deadline. All footage was filmed, no time for any re-shoots, voice dubbing or anything required to fix issues. I edited this within eight hours, it was a challenge but one I happily accepted. I had also helped with his screenplay, where I re-edited it to industry-standard using Final Draft. In the final process, I created an animated menu and burnt it to DVD.

On this project, I was credited for editing the screenplay and editor.
